A longevity medicine EMR has to handle a workflow that most EMRs were not built for. Members usually arrive with goals rather than a diagnosis, so there is no problem list to organize the chart around. A new member's baseline runs to dozens of markers, with the value coming from how those markers move across quarterly panels.
Every practice also follows its own protocol. Two well-run practices will track different marker sets and apply different thresholds to the same result, because longevity medicine has no standard-of-care template.
The platforms longevity practices shortlist each solve part of the problem. Healthie offers a full white-label option, Elation is built for independent primary care, and CharmHealth will build an interface to any lab a customer chooses for a fee. Membership platforms like Hint Health handle enrollment and billing, and Hint also sells its own EMR.
What a longevity practice needs
- Lab results arrive as discrete data. A PDF gets read once, while a structured value can be trended across years.
- The FHIR API reads and writes. Specialty lab results, wearables and membership platforms can all reach the record.
- Protocol logic acts on new results. A marker that crosses the practice's own threshold puts the next step in front of the clinician.
- Specialty labs connect to the chart. The major reference labs cover only part of a longevity panel.
- Visit notes follow the practice's protocol. Clinicians build and change their own note templates as the protocol changes.
- Members can pay online. Billing handles recurring membership fees and produces superbills for members who submit to their own plan.
- Members see their own marker trends between visits, in a portal the practice can brand and control.
- An AI agent can act on the record. That takes write access to the chart, and the vendors differ on whether they offer it.
How the platforms compare

Where Canvas is different for longevity
Most of the differences in the table come down to how much of the workflow a practice can change on its own.
Every marker is stored as discrete data. Lab results and vitals are stored as discrete values carrying the lab's reference range, so each marker can be graphed across years, compared with the last draw, and scored against the practice's own optimal ranges.
The practice writes its own logic against the chart. On Canvas, an ApoB that crosses your threshold can put a protocol review in front of the clinician. A healthspan dashboard can show only the markers your protocol tracks. Studio, the AI plugin builder inside the Canvas EMR, is how the practice builds both and edits them whenever the protocol changes.
Membership billing can run inside the EMR. Canvas has fee schedules, patient statements and superbill output, and card payments run through its built-in Stripe processor or a custom payment processor. A plugin built on the SDK can charge a stored card, so recurring membership fees can run on the card on file.
How to evaluate a longevity EMR
- Where does an ApoB value live in the data model, and can it be trended across years or only opened as a PDF?
- Can the system flag a result that is normal by the lab's standard and outside your own range, and can that flag trigger anything?
- When your protocol changes, is that something the practice does, a support ticket, or a roadmap request?
- Which of your specialty labs are already integrated, and what does connecting the rest cost?
- Which FHIR resources are supported, are writes included, and do structured observations stay structured on the way out?
- Can members see their own trends, do you control which results they see and when, and how much of the portal carries your own branding?
- How is a recurring membership fee billed, and is the cash-pay fee schedule kept apart from insurance?
- What is the total monthly cost with everything the practice actually needs turned on?
Build your own
No two longevity practices measure, score, and follow up the same way. One tracks a broad quarterly panel while another builds around hormone optimization or cardiometabolic risk. With Studio, your team describes the workflow in plain English, reviews the plan Studio proposes, and tests the plugin in a sandbox on your Canvas instance before publishing it. Developers can extend anything Studio builds on the Canvas SDK.
Adopting Canvas means moving EMRs, which is a larger project than adding a tool to the one a practice already runs. The member portal is also only partly white-labeled: the logo, banner and sender email are configurable and plugins can add or replace portal pages, but the portal URL and sign-in screens stay Canvas-branded.
Canvas is HITRUST Certified, ONC Certified, HIPAA compliant, and was named Best in KLAS 2026 for Specialty EMR.
