Preferences and Adherence of People with Prediabetes for Disease Management and Treatment: A Systematic Review

Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG) is defined as a fasting blood glucose of 5.6 to 6.9 mmol/L. Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) is defined as a fasting blood glucose of less than 5.6 mmol/L and a plasma glucose level of 7.8–11.0 mmol/L at 2 hours after OGTT or a glycated hemoglobin of 5.7%-6.4%. Prediabetes is the stage between normal glucose metabolism and diabetes mellitus and is primarily characterized by impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance, or both.1
